Guerrilla vs. Light Infantry

August 15, 2006

Just to be clear, what Hezbollah is doing in southern Lebanon is not guerrilla warfare. It’s light infantry warfare. They are trying to defend a set territory, using a military force consisting of light infantry (few tanks or artillery) behind heavily developed fortifications. This is substantially different than the kind of hit and run tactics that guerrillas practice, which does not attempt to defend a set territory and does not have permanent fortifications.
